While it is clear that contact with nature is vital to the health, happiness and well-being of urban residents, the current urban reality illustrates the lack of open green spaces, specifically child-friendly green spaces in Savar. The child and Youth Journalist of Proyash-II project acts as agent for change by portraying urban vulnerabilities through the eyes of children by their active participation in local and national platform. This year, the enthusiastic group took own initiative to plant small trees aiming to observe World Environment Day 2021 to contribute in global restoration efforts of lost greeneries and repairing damaged ecosystems. “I spent my childhood in my grandma's house in village. I grew up in the middle of nature. Once I read a quote from Albert Einstein. The quote was, ‘Look deep into nature and you will be able to understand everything better’. Since then a kind of love for nature has been working in me. And the best way to get closer to nature is to plant trees. said Oyshi Kabiraj (15), 10 th grade student. Oyshi shifted in Savar with her family on 2010 and started planted tree in the balcony and rooftop. “When I proposed the idea of planting at least one tree aiming World Environment day in Child Journalist’s messenger group, I did not expect that everyone will be interest to join the eco-movement. Amazingly, a number of thirteen trees have been planted by us. The primary success made me ecstatic,” Oyshi said.
